This is a Thank You to all the vets – past and present – who have served our country. Who have put their time and health and sanity and lives on the line, to do their job. Because they need to know they are appreciated.
So this is taking a moment to remember the sacrifices these men and women nave made – and to let them know that they are remembered, and appreciated, and that at least they were valued. Are valued. It’s not enough – but I mean it. Thank you.
Recycled storage is kind of an ongoing thing with me so I don’t really know if this is Part Four or maybe Twelve. You understand. And this is basic recycled-coffee-can stuff, Recycling 101 to most of us. But it’s so cute, I wanted to share:
Now that would look great on any shelf. They’re using it here to hold plastic bags, and that’s a fine idea (though we are hopefully using way fewer plastic bags these days). But it would work for any kitchen, craft room, or kid’s room storage. Or to hold cotton balls (okay, a lot of them) in the bathroom.
The point is, it looks good. Cover the can with some great fabric or paper (reycled of course) – make one or save them up and do 10 of them to line your craft shelves – or, well, you name it. It works, it’s cheap or free, and it saves some stuff from the landfill!
Now this is fashion at its finest. A beautiful woman, and a gorgeous gown:
I spotted this gorgeous creation (I meant the dress but hey, Gisele too) on Yahoo’s weekly “Too Hot to Handle” photo feature spotlighting celebrities who look great, or who are promoting something Yahoo’s invested in, or whatever. But this one is totally on the mark. Gisele looks great. The dress is fab. And according to the text, the gown is a “100% sustainable Prophetik hemp gown”.
We need to see more from Prophetik, and more of these gorgeous dresses, and does anybody want to guess why we haven’t seen more hemp products in, like, ever? Oh? because the right wing doesn’t want us to grow pot…er, hemp (no, it is not always the same thing) because they can’t make any money off it, if we do? And still we can go online to find certain products, such as Nanocraftcbd.Com Latest Products that specialize in selling all these products.
Pfft. Hemp is sustainable. The dress is beautiful. What’s not to love?
This aqua, green and orange hearts necklace is a customer favorite this spring – from the comments I’ve been getting, it’s because these are such “happy colors”. I think that’s a fine description 🙂
Neutrals are fine, black and white can be jazzy and powerful, and a thick silver necklace rich, pretty, it all depends on the one you are giving it to, remember a happy color is the way to go or a silver mood for an elegant or romantic theme.
The way a woman wears a necklace is completely different from the way a man does; this is basically relevant for the fact that for the latter, the necklace is a way of drawing attention to the cleavage. A necklace doesn’t suggest sexuality, it only accents femininity, charm, elegance and the fine curves of a delicate neck. Men on the other hand wear some choke-type necklace models that have a mere decorative function; yet they still send a clear message about the wearer: he is interested in good looks, trendy in style and therefore, a man of his times.
Offering a cancer necklace or any other zodiac sign as a gift is more than common nowadays, and we often have the tendency of attaching some form of emotional value to it. People come to associate a piece of jewelry with the dear one that presented it to them, and this is how mothers leave their necklaces to their daughters and so on. Even the most common necklace could mean a fortune for someone when it is about more than mere good looks. Except for such unique cases, wearing a necklace is now part of the daily routine that requires us to look nice and trendy both for ourselves and for the others.
And (hint) this makes a fine Mother’s Day gift 🙂
These pretty, patterned earrings are making a bit of a splash for me this spring – they say Haha, or Mother, in Japanese kanji:
Like all Paper Jewels they’re lightweight – so they’re comfy. I don’t know about you but that matters to me! Of course they can be special ordered in custom colors (and can be made smaller or larger) – though I do have to say, people have been very receptive to this blue zircon, green and golden combo.
And of course, Mother’s Day holiday is coming. Just sayin!
Paper flowers are just a beautiful – and inexpensive – fun decoration for your house. Aren’t these gorgeous?
If you love dahlias you’ll have fun with this tutorial! I found the pic over on Pinterest and followed it to HGTV.com – it’s a video tutorial and I think you’ll find her directions easy and fun.
Think about it. Easy to do – inexpensive – and of course you can choose your colors, and patterns, and how big or small. This is what DIY is all about – to make it just the way you like it!
PS And hey, if you’re picking your paper anyway – why not grab a stack of old magazines? Great color and you can recycle *and* create great flowers. Just sayin!
I’m having fun with color right now – case in point, these kanji earrings that say bijin, or beautiful woman – and with the connotation of hot babe 🙂 A nice gift for your girlfriend, don’t you think?
Yes of course these can be made using other colors – but I have to say, I do like this rich combo. These aren’t huge – about one inch high – but they’ve got a lot of impact. Which is kind of fun, for a lightweight pair of earrings.
And we can all use a little more fun, right?
This is one of my new favorites! It’s a pretty little necklace, I love the graceful navetete shape, and, well, moms seem to like wearing a necklace that says “Angel” 🙂
I don’t know if it’s because they think their kids are angels – or maybe hubby thinks she’s an angel for putting up with them (or him)! Either way, it’s a pretty color, and fun to wear for spring.
And Mother’s Day is coming 🙂
I think this one is super fun. Do it yourself – make your own envelope!
How fun is that! Now I know it’s red and white paper in the pic, and in the shape of a heart to start out withi – and it’s possible I meant to post this before Valentine’s Day. But it is NOT a Valentine’s Day envelope. Just imagine the paper has flowers on it. Or koala bears. The point is, you can take any sturdy(ish)paper, cut it as shown, fold it as shown, and voila! A wonderful handmade envelope.
I found this over on Pinterest and I have to say, it’s simple – and brilliant. Oh – if I was using this to mail a letter (a letter! wow!) I would write the address on a white stick-on label, so it’s readable. But hey, it would still be handmade and personal.
It’s cute. It’s useful. You can use recycled paper. See what a good idea this is?
I don’t know if I even have a “tip of the day” section but if I don’t, I ought to. I recently found this one over at Apartment Therapy which you know is one of my favorite sites, anyway. And this! so useful.
If you use dryer sheets – well, I’ve said it before – really, don’t. Now I have an alternative to suggest:
Voila! I tried it and it works. Crumple a piece of aluminum foil, toss it in the dryer. Instant de-staticer. And you can reuse it for months. MUCH better than buying a new chemical-impregnated sheet for every load of wash.
I still don’t use them very often. But when I do – hey, this works!
