New BOGO sale – in time for Christmas presents!

Wow it’s been a while! I’m back and loving my Paper Jewels customers who’ve been with me through changes and ups and downs. You are appreciated!

As a way to jump back into the wonderful world of lacquered paper jewelry, I’m announcing a new BOGO sale. For all this week – Sunday, December 10, 2017 through midnight on Saturday, December 16, 2017, you can buy any Paper Jewels – and get your second item free! You get to choose what your freebie is, too. It has to be equal or lesser value to the item you purchase, and if you need these for Christmas gifts, you probably want to check and see what’s available NOW – my stock is getting low(ish). But I’m always ready for custom work and special orders and really will try to get your Paper Jewels ready in time for Christmas.

You could check these out, I have a pair ready to go:

katakana or kanji paper earrings that say Chikara, or Power

Interestingly, I’ve had two customers order these as gifts for their besties! I guess Woman Power is a pretty cool thing to be thinking about right now. (Damn straight!)

Of course they can be customized with your favorite color, and I can use golden earwires rather than silver. It’s up to you!

P.S. If you were even thinking “hmm, maybe I should sign up for the Paper Jewels mailing list”, this would be a good time. Because I am going to be featuring a lot of new work in 2018 and that will def include some great BOGO sales and super special Deals of the Day! Just saying. You can join easy peasy by sending me an email – just say sign me up! (No, I won’t send you a ton of spam. A brief email, once or twice a month. Tops.)

May your Christmas be wonderful, or whatever holiday you celebrate – and let’s make 2018 a wonderful year. Seriously. Let’s do it.

Personalized earrings say Brianna in Japanese katakana

These fun earrings say Brianna in Japanese katakana (yes, we Westerners casually call it “Japanese kanji” – the term katakana is actually more accurate). These are one of my favorite new shapes (and so far, my customers that have bought this new style, darling girls that they are, seem pretty happy with them!)

This cornflower blue color can be changed, of course – you can request whatever color you like best. And for that matter, you can choose your own name in kanji.

But you knew that already 😉

A gift for Mom – the kanji earrings say Dream

Letting your mom know that you realize that she *has* dreams is a gift in it self – that you recognize her as a person with hopes, fears, and dreams – that’s a major deal. These pretty little earrings are just the icing on the cake.

Of course custom colors are available. Custom kanji, too – but I do think it’s nice to tell your Mom know that you know that she dreams. That she’s a person. That you value her as a person.

All that good stuff. That’s the real gift to your Mom 🙂

Personalized kanji jewelry

Kanji jewelry with her name in Japanese – or your name. Such a pretty, easy to wear necklace – with customizable colors (and names) of course:

The other advantage of this necklace is that, since it has a “cabochon setting” (the slightly-antiqued silver plated frame for the glass-and-paper pendant) it takes less time to prepare: so you can order it, up to a week before Mother’s Day – and get it on time. Just in case you forgot or something.

But of course you won’t forget Mother’s Day. Right? Right 😉

Brass pendant with personalized kanji – your name in Japanese

Your name in Japanese on a personalized, brass pendant – take a look!

This is a whole new type of design for me – the Japanese kanji prints on clear medium and is lacquered right on the brass – so the golden metal totally shines through. It’s a metallic, minimalist style and I’ve been getting some really good customer feedback. Let me know what you think!

P.S. Something to keep in mind – these personalized pendants are a great gift for Mom. Use her name – or yours, if you think she’d prefer that 😉

Personalized kanji earrings…new work

I’m all fired up making personalized kanji earrings and necklaces – several people have asked for custom work (which is always fun) – and I’m loving these new pieces! These “Rebecca” earrings were made as a gift from daughter to mother – and Mom was thrilled 🙂

I’m also working on some new techniques that are time-savers. Saving time means they cost less – so these new styles are proving popular – hey, we all like saving money!

There’s more on the way. These are fun!

Kanji earrings say Shikara, which means Strength

Or “Power”. The word “shikara” has the context of strength – or power, which is a pretty interesting connotation.

And either way, these are pretty earrings! A customer requested the light purple, or lilac, color… and I thought the petal shape worked well with the delicate shade:

And not that this is a suggestion or anything, but it just occurred to me that as anniversary presents go, well, paper earrings are great for the first year. And if your wife is a new mom, well, “Mom” really DOES equal strength and power.

Not a suggestion or anything. I’m just saying 🙂

New pansy earrings

These are a more modern version of the traditional “first anniversary” pansy earrings that are so popular. They’re clean-lined marquis ovals, almost abstract – but still recognizably pansies. And pretty, lightweight, and fun 🙂

modern pansy earrings in my Paper Jewels shop

As shown here, they’re about 1-1/4″ high, though I’ve almost made them quite a bit smaller (about 3/4″) – and one time, almost 3″ high! The customer wanted big lightweight earrings, and she loved that she could wear them all day in comfort.

Because I totally believe in comfort – And style, of course 😉

Pansies, the traditional first anniversary flower

This is something I hadn’t known till recently: pansies are considered the traditional “first anniversary” flower. I’ve always thought pansies were beautiful, with their wonderful variety and colorations. Now I have another reason to love them 🙂

And they’re probably the most popular flower in my shop, for earrings and necklaces – and now I know (another reason) why. Tradition. Wedding anniversaries. Pansy flowers. They go together like, well, love and marriage.

Plus: girly, pretty, and feminine. Just like flower earrings should be 😉

Pretty floral earrings

I like to try new designs, and occasionally really big earrings, because with paper earrings they can still be comfy. But I tend to come back to more delicate shapes, and little floral patterns are among my customer favorites. Like these:

They’re just over 1″ long (big enough to have some presence, but still delicate and of course lightweight). And the little Swarovski crystal beads add just a bit of sparkle. And they’re girly, when you’re in that sort of mood 🙂
